WALL OF CHAMPIONS FAQ

What is the Wall of Champions?

The Wall of Champions (WoC) is an annual representation of the events BCAC members compete in. In addition to building a little healthy competition among members, it promotes the Pro-Activity and BaseCamp mantra of “Ordinary People doing Extraordinary Things”

How do I get on the Wall?

Getting your name on the WoC is simple...Join BaseCamp (which you’ve likely done if you are reading this) and then pursue, complete and achieve a specific athletic event. Formal events are preferred, however if you're the type that likes to go out and walk for days on end (literally), you can submit your proof (gps data showing continuous effort, etc.) and it will be considered. For running/walking/cycling, this means an in-person, timed event that you likely paid to participate in. After you participate, enter your data in this Form. If you participate in a BCAC Race Series event, your data will be automatically entered in the WoC.

How do I move up the Wall?

The colors (aka rankings) on the WoC are sort of a mashup of Martial Arts belts and Olympic medals from White to Red-iculous. You can move up the WoC in two ways - Complete or Compete. For Complete, just do the distance no matter the pace! For example, completing a 5k is White but completing a Marathon is Black - halfway up the WoC! For Compete, your place on the WoC is all about time and distance. We use Age-Grade Performance (https://www.runraceresults.com/AgeGrade.htm) - a gender and age “handicap” that levels the results. Specific requirements are posted below the WoC and on the Virtual WoC (see below).

Can I move down the Wall?

NO!!! The WoC represents your greatest achievement for this year. Once we have the annual awards celebration, the wall is wiped clean and the pursuit starts over.

Where is the Wall?

The physical Wall of Champions is located in the BCAC Clubhouse. In general, it is updated after any Race Series event or other event where many members participated. There is also a Virtual Wall of Champions. This is updated in real time whenever data is entered or updated.

Is the Wall all about running?

Certainly not! While the current automated process is setup for running events, feel free to submit other “endurance” events (cycling, triathlon, Spartan, walk-a-thon, etc.) via the form. We just ask that you provide distance and some measure (if possible) of performance for age/gender. We will then determine your place on the WoC.

How do I win?

Well this is a loaded question! "Winning" is really based on how you define it. In our opinion, you winning is you progressing past your previous mark and "Moving up the Wall". Of course winning can also be thought of in the more traditional sense.... gain the highest ranking among all players in a given time period...either works for us... the Wall of Champions is really about what works for you!
